Stone Tents
La Câtel Fort is teaming with history. Built in the 1780s in order to defend Grève de Lecq Bay from French invasion, the fort was armed with three fearsome 32-pounder guns on traversing platforms.
History greets you at every turn in this 18th century guardhouse, situated high on the eastern cliffs that dominate Grève de Lecq Bay. Although it was initially built to protect the island from invasion, it has now become the perfect spot for a peaceful and tranquil break. Surrounded by stunning views and a refreshing sea breeze, this site is an ideal base for beach activities, exploring Grève de Lecq Bay, or just relaxing around a BBQ with friends and family.
A detachment of 15 artillerymen and a sergeant were billeted in the guardhouse to help safeguard our coasts from unfriendly invasions. With a grassy front lawn, stunning views and a beautiful heritage building to enjoy, La Câtel Fort is a picture perfect location to enjoy a short break with friends and family
