We have joined forces with Visit Jersey this autumn, together with the help of conservationist Ben Fogle, to promote getting out and about in nature and specifically for children to get involved in the project #LitteRedSquirrelCount.
This is a national campaign, so will put Jersey and our population of red squirrels on the map. The campaign also aims to raise awareness of our new book The Silent Garden with Cyril and Friends which is promoted on the Visit Jersey website and as part of the campaign.
#Why not take part?
With red squirrel numbers on the brink of extinction in mainland UK, the aim of the campaign is to discover the great outdoors and encourage children to spot red squirrels here and in the UK. To take part, participants have to go exploring, take a snap of any squirrel sightings and post them to social media using the hashtag - #LittleRedSquirrelCount. Then log any sightings on the iRecord app or with the Jersey Biodiversity Centre.
# The Silent Garden ...Where to buy?
The Silent Garden makes a wonderful gift or a perfect book to read with your children or grandchildren. As the book is commissioned by The National Trust for Jersey... all the proceeds will be used to support our conservation work across the Island.
