A Bustling Valley guided walk, ending at Black Butter Market
Saturday 4th October 2025, 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Join Sue Gorin in an exploration of the nine mills in St Peter's Valley and finish up at Black Butter Market at The Elms.
The WaterMills here were more than just places of work—they were lively hubs of community. Very similar to the night of La Séthée d'Nièr Beurre where the community comes together to produce the Black Butter.
As we ramble through the valley, you will hear the many stories connected to the Watermills, which were owned by the crown, the Seigneur of the manor, or even ancient religious houses before the Reformation. Yet, these streams carry secrets beyond their historic mills.: They once served as the Perquages, sacred paths. And in contrast, we shall hear several stories which may of been told on the evening of La Séthée d'Nièr Beurre
A walk of approximately 2.5 miles or 2.5 hours.
Supported by The Jersey Community Foundation with funds from the Channel Islands Lottery.
Free for members, £10 non-members
Meeting in the field opposite Tesson Mill (with shuttle bus back to your car from Black Butter market)
Tesson Mill, La Rue du Moulin de Tesson
