An Austen Salon: The Georgians and Grub Street

Dr Setara Pracha returns to launch our celebration of all things Georgian by leading us through the culinary delights of the period. We offer a taste of Augustan food and drink in the company of a few notable authors: take a drink in Gin Alley with William Hogarth and feast on nibbles of satire in the company of Swift, Pope, Wortley Montagu and of course, Jane Austen. So, what did the Georgians do for us? Well… spices, the dictionary, cafes, the novel, Neo-classicism, satire, the gothic…and more.
