Stories of the Seigneur: A Heritage Walk Through St Ouen
Saturday 11th April 2026, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Join Sue Gorin for a captivating walk through the historic landscape of St Ouen, made even more special with exclusive permission to enter the grounds of St Ouen's Manor, owned by the President of the National Trust for Jersey.
This rare opportunity allows participants to gain access to St Ouens' Manor, not normally accessible to the public, enriching the story of the Seigneural family and the deep connections between the land, its owners, and the work of the Trust.
With years of experience as a National Trust tour guide - and well known for her Living History roles including Louisa at 16 New Street and Rebecca at the Moulin de Quétivel - Sue brings the island’s stories vividly to life. As a dedicated Family Historian, she offers unique insights into the families who donated land and properties to the Trust, alongside the past and present presidents who have shaped its legacy.
This special walk will highlight:
-The Seigneur’s role as the current President of the National Trust for Jersey
-The ancestral history behind our Presidents surname and its connection to the parish of St Ouen
-The significance of the surrounding landscapes - both gifted and acquired - within the Trust’s stewardship
-The Trust’s ongoing conservation work in the area
-The forthcoming 90th Anniversary of the National Trust for Jersey, celebrated in August 2026
Come and enjoy a rich blend of history, heritage, and storytelling in one of Jersey’s most evocative landscapes - now including rarely seen areas - where stories of the Seigneur’s presidency and his contribution to the Trust will be woven into this walk’s narrative.
This wonderful walk has been made possible by the kind permission of Charlie and Georgina Malet de Carteret
