Our literary salon returns! Join us for an entertaining evening, round the Club Room table.
We've seen the latest film (did you love it? Hate it? We want to know!), and re-read the book.... but what do we all really think of the Brontes and their cast of characters? Are you Cathy or Jane, Heathcliffe or Rochester? Are they as complicated as they seem, or are they just misunderstood?! How can two sisters write such different stories?
Dr Setara Pracha leads us into all things Gothic in the panelled rooms of 16 New Street. Imagine yourself in Thrushcross Grange, or Thornfield Hall, as we compare these enduring characters. Lets discuss their motivations, actions and consequences, through our modern lens, and try to find out why they continue to fascinate us after two hundred years.
Refreshments included, doors open at 6pm.
£20 for members; £25 for non-members
